IBIS Superpowers

Something I appreciate in Micro Four Thirds (in particularly Olympus/OM System) cameras is how the camera makes you believe taking long exposures is a simple mundane everyday task. After spending years away from the system and lugging a heavy tripod whenever I knew i’d be shooting exposures longer than 1/10th of a second I’m was struck by how incredibly quickly I could walk around and shoot in the evening while composing interesting shots. Walking around tripod-free is like having superpowers.

Several weeks ago I spent an evening in downtown Portland, Oregon shooting an outdoor roller skating event (https://secretrollerdisco.org/ for those interested!). I had such a blast walking around capturing 1/10-2" long exposures handheld. I also had forgotten to bring ND filters for some shots where I wanted a longer exposure than I could get with the given light (1-2 seconds), but OM-5 saved the day with LiveND.
